The Band hosts its own podcast, called “Yajmownen,” which means “stories” in Potawatomi. In each episode, you can hear stories of citizens reconnecting with culture, reviving traditions, and reclaiming heritage. We release an episode monthly, on the first Monday of the month. Subscribe to receive notifications of new episodes.

This month's episode features a conversation with Jake Williams, a Pokagon citizen, who, up until a couple years ago, kept his Native identity secret to anyone who met him after high school. He wrote about his journey from invisibility to being quite vocal about his identity in a raw piece for Medium called “Elizabeth Warren and the Invisible Indian.” In this episode, Jake shares more about why he went silent and why he’s speaking so openly about it to the point of purposely embarrassing himself now.

Hear our converation in this month's episode of Yajmownen.
